Collection: Dia de los Muertos
The Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a holiday celebrated throughout Mexico. The multi-day holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritual journey. Scholars trace the origins of the modern Mexican holiday to indigenous observances dating back hundreds of years and to an Aztec festival dedicated to the goddess Mictecacihuatl. The holiday has spread throughout the world, being absorbed into other deep traditions in honor of the dead.
José Guadalupe Posada created a famous print of a figure he called La Calavera Catrina (The Elegant Skull). Posada's striking image of a costumed female with a skeleton face has become associated with the Dia de los Muertos. Catrina figures and calaveras (decorative skulls) are often a prominent part of modern Day of the Dead observances.
In tribute to these traditions that began in the region of the world where Apeman was founded, we introduce our Dia de los Muertos designs. These items will only be available for a limited time.
