ADAM GOLWAY FOUGHT THROUGH MULTIPLE ADDICTIONS, BECAME THE HEALTHIEST VERSION OF HIMSELF HE COULD THINK OF FOR HIS YOUNG DAUGHTER

“Sometimes you don’t know when you’re taking the first step through a door until you’re already inside.”

We’ve all been there, right?

That feeling when progress seems to be halted. Or maybe non-existent.

Looking back, though, it becomes clear how far we’ve truly come.

That’s the case for APEMAN Adam Golway.

“As long as I can remember, I’ve had anxiety and depression,” he said. “I always took medication from the time I could swallow a pill. I was medicated my whole life until I turned 18 and refused to go to a doctor. After that, I started self-medicating with Xanax and anything I could find.”

Adam got into a serious motocross accident at 19. At the hospital, doctors began giving Adam Vicodin and other norcos like they were nothing.

“It was like a never-ending supply when I left the hospital,” he said. “I was hooked. It wasn’t until I reached nearly 400 pounds and didn’t know why I felt like shit that I had to make a change. At that time, I was taking around 18-20 mg of morphine tablets.”

When his prescription ran out, Adam began searching the streets for any opiates and barbiturates he could find. Soon after, he found a source for morphine and began a downward spiral of addiction.

“My daughter was born on May 20, 2010,” Adam said. “I thought that might be a fix but it only slowed down my addiction. In fact, when her mother won a custody battle, it got worse.”

For those three years, Adam was over-medicated and depressed. Until a text changed his life.

“My ex sent me a message saying she couldn’t take care of our daughter anymore,” he said. “I jumped at the chance to have her full-time. With her living with me, I couldn’t be the dad who was nodding off and had no energy to play.

“I quit everything cold turkey.”

Adam describes his personality as addictive. Now, with no vice, he needed something to fill the void.

He turned to the gym.

“I started working out twice per week,” he said. “Just 30 minutes a day. Two days turned to three, three turned to four, and now I’m training six days every week. I just fell in love with the lifestyle.”

Adam credits APEAMAN as a huge motivation to keep up with his new goals.

“I cut all the way down to just over 200 pounds,” he said. “I got rid of my back and knee problems and am in the best shape of my life.

“That’s my addiction now.”
