Daniel Lubick, Overcoming Addiction

The fork in the road.

One way leads to health and prosperity.

The other leads to self-destruction.

We’ve all been there. We’ve all been down both roads.

The key is making adjustments and getting back on the right path… no matter how long it takes.

APEMAN Daniel Lubick is a prime example.

“When I was a teenager I began using drugs and alcohol never thinking it would take over my life,” he said. “At 17 I was in a car wreck, not under the influence, but it almost killed my friends and I. That triggered a lot of untouched pain and suffering for both sides. I ended up going to prison for that and became a very angry person.”

After coming home, Daniel relied on drugs and alcohol to escape life and all its emotions. If he’s honest with himself, drugs and alcohol helped him escape, literally, everything.

“I gave up jobs, family, friends and myself for a very long time,” he said. “I began getting DUIs at the age of 26. I racked up four within 10 years. The last one was in 2012. I was at the point in life where I wanted to die.”

Daniel ended up getting treatment and spent nearly a year in a facility. Fortunately, he has been clean and sober since July 16, 2012. He was released from probation early in 2016 for good behavior, graduated college in 2017 with an associate’s degree and got a career out of it.

“At the end of 2017, though, I had put a lot of weight on real quick due to poor dieting,” Daniel said. “In February of 2018 I began exercising and lifting weights. That's when I discovered APEMAN. It was a huge inspiration to me and hope for even more of a better life. When I started, I weighed 212 pounds and now I’m down to 192.”

Daniel often reflects on his journey, and says the most difficult thing he has had to overcome is learning to ask for help and trust others to talk about all the things he turned to alcohol and drugs to cope with.

“APEMAN has given me the inspiration to continue to overcome obstacles in life and live successfully,” Daniel says proudly. “It is a brand that I believe knows the struggle of everything that leads us as individuals to hit rock bottom. APEMAN inspires us to conquer anything in our path with love and support. All of the phrases and one-word causes have a great meaning behind them that gives me strength, inspiration and the determination to continue to grow, be healthy and be of service to others.”

When all we have left is to fight, having the right motivation and reminders of where we’ve been (and where we’re going) allows us all to be APEMAN STRONG.
